What Is an Egoza Flat Barrier

Egoza flat barrier is a protective barrier made of razor wire, in which the coils are arranged not as a three-dimensional spiral, but in a single plane. Thanks to this construction, the barrier takes up less space, does not project far beyond the fence line and can be used where the installation of a full concertina coil is undesirable or technically limited. A flat barrier is mounted on fences, gates, sectional fences, concrete panels, metal structures and other perimeter elements that require additional protection against intrusion.

In technical and commercial use, this product may also be called Egoza flat barrier, flat security barrier, PBB or ZKR-P. By purpose, it belongs to the general group of Egoza barriers, but it solves a different task than a three-dimensional coil. While Egoza concertina wire is chosen primarily when maximum difficulty of crossing the perimeter is required, a flat barrier is more often used where compactness, a neat appearance and installation on an existing fence without significantly changing its dimensions are important.

Construction of an Egoza Flat Barrier

An Egoza flat barrier is made of Egoza razor wire, formed into a sequence of coils connected to one another with metal clips. Unlike a concertina barrier, where the coils form a three-dimensional structure, the coils in a flat barrier are positioned in one plane. This makes it possible to obtain a rigid protective section with cutting elements across the full height of the barrier, but without a significant projection outside or inside the protected area.

The effectiveness of a flat barrier depends on the quality of the razor wire, the strength of the steel core, the density of coil connections and the method of fastening to the main fence. The clips hold the section shape, prevent the coils from shifting freely and increase the barrier’s resistance to deformation. For sites with different requirements, different heights, section lengths, fastening types and installation options can be selected.

Where Egoza Flat Barrier Is Used

An Egoza flat barrier is appropriate for sites where the perimeter must be reinforced, but there is not enough space to install a full concertina coil. These may include urban fences, industrial areas with narrow passages, sectional fences, perimeters along roads, gates, pedestrian gates, concrete fences, administrative or commercial sites. A flat barrier does not change the silhouette of the fence as strongly, so it is often chosen where the protective function must be combined with a more restrained appearance.

This solution is also convenient for upgrading existing fences. If the fence is strong enough but needs additional protection at the top or across the plane of a section, a flat barrier can increase the level of security without complete replacement of the structure. Compared with ordinary barbed wire, it creates a denser and more visible protective contour, while compared with Egoza concertina wire, it occupies less space.

Flat Barrier, Concertina Wire or Razor Mesh

A flat barrier should not be seen as a universal replacement for concertina wire. For most sites with high perimeter security requirements, Egoza concertina wire remains the main solution because it creates a three-dimensional barrier that is more difficult to cross quickly. A flat barrier is better suited to situations where space is limited, where a large projection beyond the fence line is undesirable, or where a more accurate appearance of the fence must be preserved.

If the task is not only to reinforce the top of the fence, but also to create an extended flat protective panel, it is worth considering Egoza razor mesh. It has a different construction, forms diamond-shaped cells and can be used to protect the fence plane or counter attempts to dig under the fence. Therefore, the choice between concertina wire, a flat barrier and razor mesh depends on the type of perimeter, available space, required level of protection, installation conditions and budget.

Installation of a Flat Barrier

Installation of an Egoza flat barrier requires proper assessment of the main fence. The structure on which the barrier is mounted must be able to withstand the additional load, have sufficient rigidity and allow the sections to be securely fastened along their full length. Metal brackets, clips, clamps, wire or other elements selected for the specific type of fence may be used for fastening.

It is especially important to avoid weak sections, sagging and uneven fastening. If a flat barrier is installed incorrectly, it may lose part of its protective properties, deform or create areas that are easier to cross. For complex sites, the installation scheme, placement height, fastening spacing and section joining method should be planned in advance. General principles of site preparation are described on the page about installation of Egoza barriers.

Price and Ordering of Egoza Flat Barrier

The price of an Egoza flat barrier is calculated individually and depends on the height of the barrier, section length, type of razor wire, number of clips, order volume, delivery conditions and whether installation is required. For sites requiring individual calculation, there is no universal price that fits every case: one fence may require short sections for gates or separate areas, while another may require extended reinforcement of the entire perimeter.

To buy or order an Egoza flat barrier, it is necessary to define the length of the section, the type of existing fence, the desired barrier height, delivery location and the need for mounting components. Based on these data, the appropriate construction can be selected, the required quantity calculated and a commercial proposal prepared. Fensys manufactures Egoza barriers in Ukraine and helps select solutions for industrial, commercial, infrastructure, restricted-access and private sites.
